Burt Lake covers 17,120 acres in Cheboygan County, Michigan while Emmet County's border is on the western shore. The lake is named after William Austin Burt, who, together with John Mullett, made a federal survey of the area from 1840 to 1843. The lake is approximately 10 miles north to south, 5 miles at its widest, and up to 73 feet deep!
